Hey, I just wanted to know how you liked Creating Gender: The Sexual Politics of Welfare Policy. My teacher is one of the co-authors (which aren't mentioned on this listing), but anyway, it is interesting, and I was wondering how you thought about it, why you read it,...
Hi Janni my fellow reader. I see you read alot of books and would appreciate it if you check out my new book which I wrote, Man Interrupted which has two Oscar winners on the cover praising my book and consider reading it. just enter Man Interrupted on top of the page in search to check it out. Cheers James.
Commendable reading list.
Expands upon the adage learning something new every day.
I certainly need to expand mine.
The name should be Rosemary and not Rosema. A great book.
This is a must read book for anyone interested in Women and Politics, Latino/a politics or Texas history. Each of the chapters could be a stand alone assigned reading in courses. Overall, I the book is inspirational without being sacchrine.
This is a real quick read. I enjoyed that it was Canadian and will use it as a book option in the intro WS course.
I think there are better books in this genre. Read Joan Blades book or go to some of the mamablogs in lieu of this book.
I wanted more from this book--personally and politically. That said, it will be a great source to use for my teaching purposes in lower divsion courses.
The strongest essays are the last two: "Securing a Future" by Victoria Heresford and "Perpetual War" by Kelly Oliver. This is a good book to read, but I was looking for something for one of my courses and it's not a good fit.
This is sad. I was on page 468 tonight, when I realized that I read this book a few years ago! I liked it better the first time.
What a gripping read. I appreciated that the oral histories were from people all over the globe. I couldn't put the book down and got less sleep last night. I read it just in time for Halloween.
This book is filled with several moving pieces. I did prefer the fiction and poetry. I think the drama pieces would be best served acted out--instead of reading them. But, then again, maybe they were great, but not meant to be read at the gym over the course of two evenings?
A touching book. I actually was in my doctor's office for an extra 30 minutes, so that I could finish the book.
