Picking up where Henry IV, Part One left off after the Battle of Shrewsbury, Henry IV, Part Two is the story of England's King Henry IV during his final months of life, his reconciliation with his wayward heir, and his eventual death.
This play is good, but a little odd; it's worth it for the brilliant ending at least. You need to read the first part to properly appreciate it. Even then, it feels somewhat stretched out. The overall impression is that Shakespeare had a story in mind that was too big for a single play, but put most of the good stuff in the first part because he didn't know if it would be successful enough to justify a sequel, which caused the sequel to suffer.
