From the number-one bestselling author of Cause of Death, a knowing and wry novel of big-city police, big-city crime, and the ironic intersections of everyday lives.
It's a city of ambition and pride, a city long ago dubbed "the hornet's nest of America." A swarming symbol dominates the badge of the police department that protects it--the image of a darting, restless fighter: the whirling dervish of a hornet. Personally, I can't get into the books that aren't about Kay Scarpetta. Although I love Patricia Cornwell's work, these are not as riviting as the Scarpetta series.
I never finished this book. I could not for the life of me get into this book. I guess I was spoiled by her Kay Scarpetta series.
It´s not as good as the Scarpetta series..but I liked Brazil ¨young, smart, sensitive and kind, he was a friend, he was a pretty incredible-looking guy and didn´t seem to notice¨
Its a great book if you´re into police stories!
I'm just not going to make it through this one. The last book I deep-6'd was a PD James. I'm getting that feeling already about this one.
Yup, couldn't do it. Too much else out there right now. done.
Den första jag läste av Patricia som inte handlade om Kay.. Den var fan inte lika bra som "Kay" serien, lite besviken, men den var ändå läsvärd, som alla böcker..
I read this book because it is set in Charlotte, NC where I live. The author is a former Charlotte native and wrote for the local newspaper. I can't say I enjoyed her writing style, or the book. The character development was good and seemed realistic but the plot was non-existent.
Great book!!! I love the characters (ok, that journal guy is a little bit over the top), love the story, recommend it to everyone!!!
An enjoyable read featuring Virginia West and Andy Brazil. Different to the Patricia Cornwell style that I am accustomed to with her main hero, Forensic Pathologist, Kay Scarpetta. I must admit though that I much prefer the Scarpetta novels.
So bad. I didn't read past 100 pages, which I never do. The characters are uninteresting and I hate the fact that for Patricia Cornwell, writing a unpolitically correct book means describing each female character as either despicable, vain, and fat, or as cold-hearted and beautiful. I'll stick to the Kay stories from now on, they're way better.
If you are from the Charlotte, NC area this this hysterical. The characters are caricatures of locals. just look at the names, come on. This one and the follow up are keepers for NC locals!
