Most of us have no idea what's really going on inside our heads. Yet brain scientists have uncovered details every business leader, parent, and teacher should know--such as the brain's need for physical activity to work at its best.

How do we learn? What exactly do sleep and stress do to our brains? Why is multi-tasking a myth? Why is it so easy to forget--and so important to repeat new information? Is it true that men and women have different brains?

Quote-leftLike traffic rules, these are more of guidelines... That said, a very accessible book, sprightly narrated and bearing just the proper mix of neurosciency mumbo-jumbo and quotidian examples from the author's personal experience. The book is based in scholarly research yet the author does take the liberty, though appropriately qualified, to suggest implications for practice. In my opinion this makes the chapters more interesting and thought-provoking without detracting from the credibility of the scientifically grounded information put forth.Quote-right

Quote-leftKind of dissapointing, the website is nearly as complete. Another book please, but with more content ?Quote-right

Quote-leftWas expecting more here. Rather anecdotal presentation of themes that are less instructive in a holistic sense than they are curious, in a trivial sense. I will go back to it, to be sure, but not as a serious source.Quote-right

Quote-leftThis book should be read by every teacher and administrator in our schools. Medina has a talent for taking complex ideas and explaining them in ways that are entertaining and informative. There is a companion DVD with the book and a website. All in all it is a great package deal.Quote-right

Quote-leftA must read. I am absolutely fascinated by the research and knowledge that we already have about our brain and we are not implementing to improve our lives. This book makes an uncompromising case for exercise, sleep, and curiousity. Medina also tells us how to absolutely terribly stress affects us and the easiest way to eliminate it. Read this book if you are interested in learning easy way to multiply the effectiveness of your brain.Quote-right

Quote-leftI highly recommend this book to anyone working in education. We wonder why students don't always learn what we need them to. This book explains how the many things going on outside of school life can effect student's learning. It is changing the way I teach and educate my students.Quote-right

Quote-leftThis book gives some interesting insight into how the brain works. Sort of a psychology for the rest of us overview. I wish it had more concrete do a b then c for better brain function instead of mere hypothesis and observations but well worth reading none-the-less.Quote-right

Quote-leftExcellent! This is a book that provides an excellent overview of some of the most recent learning about the way our brains work. Medina applies his own principles to his writing, making the book entertaining and engaging. A simple, but simply provocative, read.Quote-right

Quote-leftFantastic! Once in a year book. Teaches you fundamentals about brain physics and chemistry in a lucid, metaphor-rich way. A lot of these principles could be used for presentation design, teaching (especially), to remember difficult concepts etc. If you are intrigued by the differences between Bicycle and Social Security Number -- give this book a must read.Quote-right
