Quote-leftI love his writing...Quote-right

Quote-leftOne of the most facinating books Ive read to date. Takes a very detailed look at the life of a young gay boy/man's journey through childhood and adolescence. Side-splittingly funny at times whilst also quite upsetting. The Great American dream can get complicated!Quote-right

Quote-leftHated it!Quote-right

Quote-leftThis book goes into gruesome detail but I loved it. It was like a train wreck I just couldn't look away. I was feverishly reading because I wanted to see what happened next. Now I am reading his brother's book.Quote-right

Quote-leftHilarious but dead sad when you think about it.Quote-right

Quote-leftNaa - didn't like it - read it though! It was too far fetched - bit fed up with people trying to outdo Peltzer (Boy Called "It")Quote-right

Quote-leftI think this book is more sad and shocking than funny. I found his brother's book, Look me in the eye, more optimistic and nicer to read. While reading Running with scissors, i kept holding on to the expectations that things would be better but it felt so tragic and shocking as i kept turning the pages. I dont think i'd be catching the sequel "Dry" any time too soon unless someone tells me there's more happy stuff coming in this book.

Nonetheless, i think he writes pretty well. Witty at some points.Quote-right

Quote-leftSo I was finally able to complete this book, which if I didn't purchase I would have probably not been able to do so. I have a sense of humor unrivaled by most, but I never once found myself laughing during my reading. Unless gasps and "What the f***" can be considered laughter. The only thing this book had going for was shear shock value, and that was only due to some of the horrifying details and ridiculous events that occurred is this man's life. I really hope a lot of this was made up, otherwise, he really may what to see a real psychiatrist.Quote-right
