Every little girl has dreams of being swept up into a great adventure, of being the beautiful princess. Sadly, when women grow up, they are often swept up into a life filled merely with duty and demands. Many Christian women are tired, struggling under the weight of the pressure to be a "good servant," a nurturing caregiver, or a capable home manager.
What Wild at Heart did for men, Captivating can do for women. This groundbreaking book shows readers the glorious design of women before t... (show more)
Beautiful book, a must read for every woman! I kept seeing this book as a best seller and finally bought it on impulse not expecting much, thinking it wouldn't do much for me. But I was pleasantly suprised at how God's healing balm flowed through this book to me. It highlights and tends to the wounds inflicted on the souls of the vast majority of woman everywhere, woeing us back to the original glory that God designed us for and to be freed to live life large as a beautiful woman. I could see how it could help the all the woman I know in my life, so I gave away a few copies!!
Every woman should read this book.
It invites you to a grander picture, a deeper, honest look at yourself and God. It's quite beautiful and quite inspiring.
I found this book amazing, it spoke to my heart, changed and challenged me as a daughter of Christ.
I reccomend everyone to read Wild at Heart as well, it helped me understand the ways of a Christian man, and Gods design.
Fantastic book.
I would recommend this to every woman who seeks to understand herself, her inner fears, and her value...
Don't think you have to be a Christian to read this, Come as you are and be amazed at how much this book can capture your heart. But know something, you may just end up falling in love with God and falling into the arms of Jesus. this is a love story.
There are significant problems throughout this book. Most, if not all, of the problems seem to stem from three basic categories – a low view of God, a low view of Scripture, and a high view of man (or, in this particular case, woman). All of these lead the reader to an incorrect view of true, biblical womanhood and femininity. It is unfortunate, for all of the positive talk that this book has generated over the last few years, that it’s message is one of pride and self-centeredness – rooted in an extremely low view of God and the authority of His Word. For numerous reasons, this is not a book I would recommend. Should you choose to read this book, please let me urge you to do so with your (open) Bible in hand. Be a “Berean” – examining the Scriptures to see if these things are so. (see Acts 17:11)
Its an amazing book... if your feeling down on yourself i suggest reading this book... It opened my eyes to how beautiful i really am (not trying to sound vain) and how beautiful and captivating I am to God...
Excellent book! I recommend it to any woman. It really changed the way I view myself as a daughter of The King, and my roles in this life.
While I understand the need of encouraging a woman these days, I would not recommend this particular book to do that. This book is full of bad theology. It hit some basic points about what women may long for- but that is about it. The book relied heavily on popular culture and movies instead of scripture - which when used was used out of context. I would not recommend this book. It insists that we elevate a woman to a dangerous prideful point- to the point that got Satan kicked out of heaven! I am not trying to say that women are not special or important, but this book is woman-centered not God centered. Be careful with this one...
mmm.....wasn't captivating to me. A struggle to finish the book, and i can't even think of one idea that i took away from it.
