Ok, don't get me wrong, I love the Harry Potter books, but did anyone really think JK Rowling was going to let Harry lose in the end?
Yeah it was kind of obvious that he was going to win, but we all wanna know how
can you imagine - millions of traumatised children (and a fair few adults) if Harry had died
and you don't kill off the cash cow do you?
one day harry will return - or maybe son of harry!!
No, he was never going to die, and the pre-release murmurings in the media about the possibility of his death were annoying and hysterical.
actually he did die. at least as a horcrux. just after he died and got rid of the last part of voldemort's soul he could then kill off voldemort. that is what was meant by "neither can live while the other survives".
I didn't find it so obvious.. and i really liked the explanation about Snape!
After all that poor Harry Potter has experienced in his life... he better win, lol! But seriously, of course Harry won, he basically was born to defeat the Dark Lord. The thing is that we know J.K. Rowling is realistic, so obviously the road to finally defeating Voldemort was long, bloody, and real. Loved ones died, many of the students were killed in the big showdown at Hogwarts, plus countless others. J.K's constant theme of love, determination, and loyalty will always be relevant; especially since it's not always easy to uphold those qualilties and even when you do, bad things can/will still happen. Those who claim J.K got too dark as the series progressed need to wake up and greet the real world. Children will always grow up, there's nothing to be done about it. There are still those who can't believe someone would write about children/young adults facing any kind of danger, much less, the mortal peril like in HP. Everyone instills in their children from early childhood to stay away from strangers, well books like HP show kids that they are smart and it's ok to be curious and aware of what is going on around you. Ok.. let me stop before I ramble on even more. ^_^
My sister was certain that he would die- but I knew he would not. I always told her that everyone around him is susceptible to dying- when it comes to the people in his live there are now rules on them dying. But Harry would not die. JK Rowling would have been REALLY stupid to kill him off.
