I loved the twist at the end of this novel. Looking forward to reading another of Du Maurier's Cornwall novels.
Totally loved it, just as good as Rebecca, now I want to read all her other books!
Better examples of her work are Jamaica Inn and Rebecca but this is still a page turner.
Great read. But I did NOT like the protaganist; something like Great Expectations or Portrait of a Lady - you want to shake them and tell them to "grow up."
I loved Rebecca so I thought I would try this one and it lived up to expectations. I even had to get up at 2am to finish the book because I needed to know what happened!
Loved reading this book and hating Rachel for what she did to poor philip...the ending is so very chilling
Another dark evocative tale from Du Maurier - and I think it has one of the best last lines of a novel I ever read. Great brooding atmosphere, and truly masterful narration - I really enjoyed this.
du Maurier certainly can create and sustain engaging characters, engaging narrative and a tale of real suspese. i liked the obsssive nature of the book but didnt enjoy it as much as rebecca (and no thats ot because i am called rebecca ;P)
