Truly deserving of the accolade a modern classic, Donna Tartt’s novel is a remarkable achievement—both compelling and elegant, dramatic and playful.

For all of us who loved college and perhaps made the odd mistake, Donna Tartt provides the consuming story of a few undergrads, a few murders, and the professor who disowned the whole thing. My friends from Bennington tell me the professor was real. My sense of Bennington says the murder probably was, too. I re-read this regularly--could be the section about the snow, but it takes me back to Ithaca every time.
I really enjoyed this book. It starts off by telling you a major event which happens half way through the book. In some cases this could be seen as a spoiler but in this situation it helped you focus on the plot and thinking why would this happen. I shan't go spoiling it for you. Good read!
Very readable, enjoyable book, especially in the early chapters. Not as emotionally resonant as it could be, but still a good read.
Kuba is right, started good but then died out. really disapointing. to long for such a simple story. reminded me of spoiled rich kids, like one big episode of the oc. no good
the first part was great, and then it all went wrong :/
it begins as a great bildungsroman and ends up as a crime story about fucked up teenagers. thus I'm rather disappointed, and frankly speaking the story itself doesn't justify the size :/ (it would have been better if the publisher had convinced Ms Tartt to reduce some parts)
Simply one of my all time favorites. Can't really tell why. Must've read this 5 fimes already.
