Did you like this one as much despite the length or did it just taking longer for you to get into the story?
When I read all the books in a row the first time this was my favorite. I was intrigued from the start and couldn't put it down after starting the chapter with the third task. U?
I actully really enjoyed this too. I found the story fascinating and couldn't put it down. If any of them were too long I'd have said it was the 5th one.
I thought the tasks were awesome, but it just took too long to get to each. I understand that there is more to the story, but it just seemed to poke along. I still liked it. And I think the Quidditch matches are a bore, so I was glad to do without those.
Quite ironic that I loved Order of the Phoenix in the movies, but found the book version not very good. Goblet of Fire was long, but it was definitely fun.
Personally, the longer the story the better for me!! I love the Harry Potter series and the only one that seemed a little too long was the 7th one...
Technically, this book wasn't even that long. Also, the reading level is extremely easy for me...and for most people, actually. I've read much longer books with more substance that didn't have about an inch of margins.
Liked the book though. It's not supposed to be about the writing; it's about the plot and the characters and the themes.
I really don't think the length phased me. I'm pretty sure I read all of them overnight regardless.
I agree with most people, the length actually made it better. My favorite book is the longest, actually(the fifth one). The reading is so fast, and so much goes on, I'm always disappointed when it ends. I hope that she writes more about this series, even if it's a companion book. I want an autobiography of Dumbledore personally. =)
P.S.In my opinion, the movies are a kind of cliffnotes for the books(especially the Order of the Phoenix). But if they did the whole thing, they'd be 5 hours long, lol.
