movies and books...what's the difference

i think the book is very good but the movie is a disaster
they didn't caughted the public atention...i think in general all movies are better when they aren't the story of a book...look the example of satr wars

are you serious?
i guess it depends on the book and how well the movie is done, but in most cases, the book is much much better.
look at harry potter. and gossip girl (although it is a TV show.)

the book pretty much always, unless the book is really bad. you just can't put certain things that make a book amazing into the film. it's limited to the plot and visual description. for instance, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, film was good but couldnt get what the book had. like when the book goes into the big thing of everything being mechanical and robot-functioning like, just couldnt be done in the film.

The book was vastly undewhelming and the movie was hideous..!!

However, I am not usually a fan of adaptions. Usually this is because they miss out on much of the subtlety behind a good book.

Admittedly, though, there isn't a huge amount of subtlety behind Mr Brown's 'opus' (dei)!

Basically I dont´t think one should compare movies with the books. Reason being, the movies are the director/dramathurgist and sometimes actors view of the book in question.
You should review the movie as a movie, not compare it with the book. After all, how often do you get the chance to compare a movie with the original manuscript?

Books are better because you can clearly understand what the characters are thinking. The internal dialogue is so important! So the more cerebral the book - like DaVinci Code - the worse the movie. Actors can't portray thoughts without speaking. Feelings yes, thoughts no.

As for me .. books much much better .. because your imagination is unlimited ..when you read a good book either adventure book such lord of the ring or love story book - any book from jude devaraux.. you will be in one of the character.. your imagination of the word play a part and exude emotion, feelings and anticipation .. Once you have a good book .. you will get this satisfying feeling ..as for movie .. most of the time .. it limit to the director's vision and somehow I always think they did not match my imagination..

98% of the time, I think books are better, but the biggest case I can make against that is with Forrest Gump. NEVER read the book. The movie is a MILLION times better than the book.

Only once I have I ever thought the movie was better than the book. I loved the movie Under the Tuscan Sun and went looking for the book. While the movie has a plot about this woman creating a new life for herself, the book is full of random ideas, details about remodeling a house, and recipes that were made and popular at parties. It was interesting, but I enjoyed the movie much more. As for Da Vinci Code, I agree with whoever said something was missing. With the book, while I was reading it, I hated having to put it down for even a second. I didn't get that sense of urgency from the movie.

The book is good
