Poor choice to play Langdon. Weird hair... not quite believable enough. Not sure who could have been a better choice though. Thoughts?
I agree, I don't think Hanks was the best actor for Langdon's part. He didn't have the presence, the deep voice... they needed an actor reminiscent of Harrison Ford in his Han Solo/Indiana Jones days. If you can think of anyone who fits that.
I was thrilled with Ian McKellen's performance, though, he is brilliant.
ian mckellen would have been a tad bit too old and that semi-romantic relationship with sophie would have been almost paedophillic.
creepy.
harrison ford. daniel craig (i didn't really like him as bond). so many other options.
Oooh, Daniel Craig would have been good. I completely agree with you all and that was the first thing I said when the movie came out. And I also completely agree with your suggestion of old-school Harrison Ford-esque actor/look. I can't stand the man and I don't care much for his acting, but Russell Crowe has the Langdon look....he can look intelligent and suave, yet his inner geek shines through at the same time. I'm just glad they didn't completely ruin it by casting someone like Nicholas Cage or something.
I think a younger Gene hackman would have been good! but then again I think he's good in anythning!
I totally agree. Harrison Ford would have been a good choice when he was younger. What about Dennis Quaid or someone of his generation? He's supposed to be handsome, not weird looking.
I think Clive Owen would have been great. He has that rugged handsomeness that Brown described and he's in his prime for a more action-filled adventure.
I haven't seen the film and have no intention of doing so given that I hate the book, but I found it hysterical that Brown actually described Langdon as looking a little like Harrison Ford clearly hoping that the film would be made. Ha! He got Tom Hanks!
