I was in grad school (spending my days combing through scholarly footnotes) when I read this, which I am sure added to my enjoyment of the book. I love how Dunn plays with the conventions of narrative. This novel was a lot of fun

how many authors can get away with mark dunn's tell-tale quirky approach to storytelling? um, not many. how many novels can be told in NOTHING BUT foot-notes and still be absolutely engaging? again, not many. definitely a fun read with a darling triped protagonist.
